"I believe the natural evolution of the phases of his lifelong study were heavily dependent upon the strength of values present in the intellectual deliberations which run all the way through his work. Thus the syntheticism of figurative allusiveness noticable in the middle of the decade, whereas towards the end, one can identify a dialectic between the synthetically allusive and the abstract - within the same context of the same painting - to the point where it dominates the whole construction, as happened at the beginning of the 1940's.
